How to use FFXIV Squadron.
To start, fill the Squadron members forms with your current squadron's data. It's best to fill all the fields for the recruits you want to use, as missing data may lead to incomplete or flawed results. Recruits with red fields can't be used, which means that some mandatory data (class/level/race) is missing. Recruits with yellow fields (checkbox unticked) are excluded from the simulation, but can still receive XP. Once this is done, do not touch these values again unless you do a mistake and want to fix it. You can reorder the recruits by dragging their recruit number.
Next, in the Training forms, fill in the physical, mental, and tactics fields with the current squadron attributes values you have in-game, and set your squadron's rank as well. Once this is done, do not touch these values again unless you do a mistake and want to fix it.
You're almost ready to start. Set the information for the mission you want to do in the Mission forms, and hit the Solve button. The application will try to find the best combinations for this mission, based on your recruits and training data, and will display the results in place of this message, in the Results section. If you're lucky, you might be able to start the mission without further training, but that won't always be the case. If one or more trainings are needed, the application will let you know what to do.
When you finish a training or a mission in-game, you get experience points, and the squadron attributes are modified in the case of a training. These actions can be replicated here, allowing you to keep your squadron up to date easily.
When a training is completed in-game, simply select it here, in the Training section, hit the Apply button, then the Confirm button (double verification to avoid mistakes). The squadron attributes values will be modified accordingly, and experience points will be awarded to all of your recruits based on the training you selected. If you want to apply the experience points to only 1 to 4 recruits (because the others are on a mission), select or unselect their icons.
When a mission is completed in-game, fill in the Command mission XP or Squadron mission XP field, depending on the mission type, with the amount of experience points received. Select the 3 (command mission) or 4 (squadron mission) recruits to whom the experience points should be applied by clicking on their icons to highlight them, then hit the Apply button next to this field. The selected recruits will receive the experience points.
You have 5 tabs available for different squadrons. Use them to perform various tests without altering your current squadron. Click on the Squadron # links in the menu to navigate through the tabs. You can manage your squadrons and the WoL using the Squadrons data overlay.
You can also Export your squadrons (to save them, copy them to another tab, or share them, for example) and Import squadrons (previously saved squadrons or squadrons shared by your friends, for example).
FFXIV Squadron V2 is here!
This new version brings some cool features, optimizations, and a fresh layout. Here's a quick overview of the changes.
- You can select up to 9 trainings (up from 6).
- Calculations can be faster using more workers. The maximum number of workers depends on your device, but you can expect faster calculations with more workers, especially with high max trainings values.
- Overall calculation speed is improved even without multiple workers.
- Results with 2/3 stats matched without trainings are always shown. If "Extended results" is on, you can also see 2/3 matches that require trainings, but this will slow things down a bit.
- Thanks to workers, results now appear progressively, and the main app won’t freeze during calculations. For technical reasons, you can’t switch squadrons or change worker count mid-simulation, but you can edit your squadron data and stop the simulation anytime using the "End simulation" button.
- The layout has been tweaked to use space more efficiently.
- Minor adjustments were made for both light and dark themes.
In short: it's the same app as before, just faster, smoother, and with some useful upgrades. Everything works like before, just better!
I've tested everything, but some issues might still pop up in specific situations. Please report any problems you run into, including, but not limited to, missing results, incorrect results, accessibility issues caused by theme colors, and error messages in your browser console.
Old squadron data is automatically converted to the new format when you first open this version. A backup of your previous data is kept, so if something goes wrong during the conversion, I can help restore it. Please contact me if you notice any issues or missing data.
If you like FFXIV Squadron and would like to thank me, there are several ways.
- You can post a message on the FFXIV forums – I always enjoy hearing that the app is helpful.
- A few years ago, I also created a kinetic novel available on Steam. You can mention it to your friends, add it to your wishlist, or try it out if you enjoy story-driven games.
